Geoff Sargent
Senior Therapeutic Optometrist
Geoff Sargent requires no introduction as the face of Barry & Sargent Optometrists with over 30 years of clinical experience. Geoff has been involved in all aspects of optometry and is dedicated to advancing the profession of optometry. He has a wealth of experience and takes enjoyment from providing first-class care for clients. Geoff specialises in fitting all types of contact lenses including multifocals and complex rigid lenses. He is also credentialled to do vision examinations for the Police and the Civil Aviation Authority.
Richard Shanks
Behavioural Optometrist / Director
As a third-generation optometrist, Richard Shanks has enjoyed caring for Wellingtonians’ vision for almost 30 years. Richard has extensive knowledge across all aspects of optometry with a particular interest in children’s visual development and vision affected by acquired brain Injury. As a behavioural optometrist, he understands the immense impact that visual difficulties can have on learning and the importance of maximising a child’s learning potential by remediating visual difficulties through vision therapy. Richard Shanks has considerable knowledge and experience to offer his patients.

Marama Lambert
Therapeutic Optometrist / Director
Marama Lambert has over twenty years of experience as an optometrist gained working at Barry & Sargent Optometrists. She is skilled at fitting contact lenses for challenging conditions such as keratoconus and gets great fulfilment by being able to improve someone’s eyesight. Marama also has extensive experience in myopia control management and managing ocular pathology (eye diseases). Marama strives to provide top-quality eye care to her community and find the best vision solution for every need.
Natalie Wong
Therapeutic Optometrist (Glaucoma prescriber) / Director
Having worked in the optical industry since starting optometry and starting at Barry & Sargent in 2011, Natalie Wong has a wide skill-set across general optometry. She is experienced in managing ocular pathology with a particular focus in glaucoma management and also specialises in myopia control management and contact lens fitting. Natalie is passionate about protecting vision and being at the forefront of optometry using the innovative technology to provide the highest level of care for patients.

Vanessa Soo
Therapeutic Optometrist
Vanessa brings a wealth of knowledge to Barry & Sargent after a number of years at some well-established practices in Sydney. Vanessa has a particular interest in ocular pathology (eye disease) including dry eye and treating certain anterior eye (front of eye) diseases. Educating patients about eye health is a passion of Vanessa’s, who will ensure that all your eye care needs are covered.
Stephanie Fox
Therapeutic Optometrist
Stephanie is an experienced optometrist with a particular interest in children’s vision and myopia control. She is our resident Orthokeratology specialist and as a glasses wearer herself, is passionate about preventing the progression of short-sightedness in children. She is known for her compassionate and patient-centred approach, taking the time to educate her patients to make informed decisions about their eye care.

Verona Lipinski
Therapeutic Optometrist
Verona has joined our team after gaining valuable experience at a busy practice in Tauranga. She is passionate about providing individualised, high-quality eyecare and is experienced with general eye examinations with an interest in managing ocular pathology (eye diseases). She enjoys getting to know her clients to understand their unique vision needs and is excited to be able to offer tailored solutions and the high-quality level of eye care that Barry & Sargent is known for.
