Consultation Fees

We provide comprehensive eye examinations and specialty optometry services. Everyone’s requirements will differ but we believe in transparency with our examination fees.

Our standard eye examination fee is $182.
This fee is for a 45 minute comprehensive consultation with the optometrist including wide-field retinal imaging. Additional testing such as OCT imaging, topography and visual field testing will be an additional charge and often require a separate appointment. The reasons for the extra testing and cost will be discussed with your optometrist during your examination.

Initial children’s vision examinations with Richard Shanks are $228 for a 1 hour appointment, please call us to determine if your child requires an appointment with Richard Shanks.

The cost of specialty services varies depending on the appointments and additional tests required. We also offer urgent appointments for red eye conditions and foreign body removal, the cost is between $60-$104 for a short assessment.  

We can indicate pricing prior to appointments however an initial consultation is the first recommendation to provide a clear quote. We are a Southern Cross Easy-Claim partner and can process claims for Southern Cross members for eligible services at the time of purchase.
